Book Trucks & Carts

Book Trucks and Multipurpose Carts for Schools and Libraries

Books, media, and classroom supplies spend a lot of their life in transit: from the library to a classroom, from a returns desk to the shelves, from storage to a maker space. A cart that is too flimsy racks out of square, and one that is too big will not fit through a classroom door or down a stack aisle.

Every cart in this collection is built on a 16 gauge, 1 inch diameter tubular steel frame with a 500 lb capacity, a powder-coat finish, and non-marring wheels on ball-bearing casters. The range covers book trucks with sloped shelves, multipurpose carts with trays or flat shelves, and two pegboard carts for tools and supplies.

Sloped Shelves for Books, Trays and Flat Shelves for Everything Else

Choosing a Cart

Sloped Shelves for Books, Trays and Flat Shelves for Everything Else

Book trucks use shelves sloped at a 12 degree angle so books lean back and stay put while the cart moves. Double-sided trucks load from both sides and are 17 inches deep. Single-sided trucks are 13 inches deep, and the narrow RBS16 is 18 inches wide for tight stack aisles. Combination trucks pair sloped shelves with a flat top or bottom shelf for oversize books and media.

Multipurpose carts carry two or three 4 inch deep trays, or two or three flat shelves, in 28 by 17 inch footprints from 38 to 44 inches high. Tell us what the cart carries, where it travels, and how many you need, and we will match the model.

Where They Work

Common Uses

Libraries

Sloped-shelf book trucks for returns, reshelving, and moving collections between floors, with narrow and single-sided trucks for tight aisles.

Classrooms and Maker Spaces

The STEAM cart pairs two trays with twin side pegboards, so it works as a rolling supply station or a small activity center.

Facilities and Maintenance

The JAMES cart and the multipurpose carts carry tools, equipment, and supplies for janitorial, assembly, and maintenance crews.

Books Lean Back and Stay On

Books Lean Back and Stay On

Sloped shelves hold books against the back of the shelf as the cart moves, so a loaded truck can cross a threshold or ride an elevator without spilling.

Double-sided trucks load from both sides for faster reshelving.

Tools Hung Where You Can See Them

Tools Hung Where You Can See Them

The STEAM and JAMES carts each have two 4 inch deep trays and twin side pegboards for hanging tools and supplies.

Both are 34-5/8 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 17 inches deep.
