Mezzanine Lifts & VRCs

Vertical reciprocating conveyors (VRCs) that move pallets, carts and loads between floor level and a mezzanine on a guarded carriage. Built for freight, not riders, and sized to the load.

Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors

Maximize Vertical Efficiency with Deluxe Systems’ Mezzanine Lifts

A mezzanine lift, or vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC), moves material between floor level and a mezzanine or upper level. It is the standard way to get pallets, carts, and loads up to a platform, and it is purpose-built for freight, not people.

Where a forklift reaching up to a mezzanine or a crew muscling loads up stairs creates fall and tip hazards, a VRC carries the load on a guarded carriage inside an enclosed hoistway. That removes those hazards and moves more weight per cycle. Mechanical and hydraulic models size to load weight, platform height, and carriage dimensions.

Hydraulic or Mechanical Drive, Sized to Your Load

How VRCs Work

Hydraulic or Mechanical Drive, Sized to Your Load

Two drive types cover most installations. Hydraulic VRCs use a cylinder to raise and lower the carriage, smooth, quiet, and the standard choice for most warehouse and mezzanine applications. Mechanical (chain or cable) VRCs trade some of that smoothness for higher travel speeds and taller travel heights, the right call when cycle time or building height pushes past what a hydraulic unit handles well.

Every VRC ships with an enclosure, a gate at each landing, and a control system built around one rule: the carriage can't move with a gate open, and a gate can't open unless the carriage is there. That interlock is what lets a mechanical lift move freight safely without a licensed elevator operator. Carriage size, ramp or roller configuration, and call-station placement at each landing all get specified around how your load actually moves through the building.

Applications

Where a VRC Makes Sense

Mezzanine & Second-Floor Storage

Move pallets or totes up to elevated storage or a pick module without dedicating floor space to a ramp or asking staff to hand-carry loads up a stairwell.

Multi-Story Distribution Centers

Route freight between building levels on the schedule your operation actually needs, without the cost or downtime risk of a passenger elevator carrying material it wasn't built for.

Manufacturing & Production

Move raw material up to a production floor and finished goods back down to shipping, on a lift built for repeated freight cycles rather than occasional foot traffic.

Why a VRC, Not an Elevator

Move freight between floors without building an elevator shaft

Safe & Reliable

Forklifts and manual transport to upper levels can lead to accidents and damaged goods. A mezzanine lift gives a controlled way to move materials between levels without a forklift or a hand carry.

Flexible Applications

Available in a wide range of capacities, carriage sizes, and lift heights, our mezzanine lifts can be customized to fit your exact needs. Whether you’re moving pallets, carts, or equipment, we deliver a tailored solution for every workflow.

Maximize Your Space

Pairing mezzanine lifts with your elevated platforms creates seamless access to vertical storage. This integration allows you to fully utilize building height, increase storage density, and expand usable space without costly construction or relocation.

Built For Demanding Environments

Constructed with heavy-duty steel and engineered for continuous use, our mezzanine lifts are designed to meet the rigorous demands of warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers. Dependable, rugged, and long-lasting, they keep your operations running at peak performance.

Built for Freight, Not Foot Traffic

Built for Freight, Not Foot Traffic

A VRC carriage is built to carry a pallet or a cart, not a person, which is exactly why it isn't held to the same code and inspection requirements as a passenger elevator in most jurisdictions. The enclosure, interlocked gates, and control system are all sized around the load moving through it, not around passenger-safety requirements a warehouse lift was never meant to carry.

That difference is where the cost and footprint savings come from. You get a lift that moves material between floors reliably, without the shaft construction, machine room, and ongoing inspection contract that come with an elevator built for people.

Engineered to Your Building, Not Off a Shelf

Engineered to Your Building, Not Off a Shelf

Travel height, landing count, carriage size, and load capacity are all specified around the building the VRC goes into: there's no universal size that works everywhere. We start with your floor-to-floor heights, your heaviest load, and how many landings need access, then spec the drive, gates, and controls to match.

Because this is engineered, site-installed equipment, freight and installation are a real part of the project cost: not an afterthought. We account for that in the quote up front so there are no surprises once the equipment ships.

Mezzanine Lifts & VRCs

Key Features

  • Vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) for material between levels
  • Guarded carriage in an enclosed hoistway: freight only, no riders
  • Removes the fall and tip hazards of forklift-to-mezzanine handling
  • Mechanical and hydraulic models sized to load, height, and carriage

Frequently Asked Questions

A mezzanine lift (vertical reciprocating conveyor) moves pallets, carts, and loads between floor level and a mezzanine on a guarded carriage. It is built for material only and replaces the hazard of lifting loads by forklift or by hand.
Send your dimensions, capacity needs, and timeline through our quote form. Our team responds within one business day with options and pricing. Stocked configurations typically ship in 2-3 weeks; engineered systems run 4-8 weeks depending on complexity.
