Shipping policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Shipping Policy explains how Deluxe Systems, a division of W.T. Hight Company, Inc., ships equipment ordered through deluxesystems.com.
1. Most of what we sell ships by freight, not parcel
Racking, shelving, mezzanines, partitions, workbenches, conveyors, hand trucks, and most other material handling equipment ships LTL (less-than-truckload) freight, on a pallet, on a truck. Small items such as casters and hardware ship by parcel carrier.
LTL freight is not priced by weight the way parcel shipping is. It is priced by freight class, pallet count, distance, destination type, and the accessorial services the delivery requires. Two identical items going to two addresses a few miles apart can carry very different freight charges.
2. Freight is quoted, not calculated online
We do not publish freight rates on this site, and we do not estimate them. Publishing a rate we cannot honor helps nobody. Every item on this site is sold by quote, and freight to your delivery address is included in that quote, so you see one number before you order.
3. Accessorial charges
The following add cost to an LTL delivery. Tell us up front if any apply to your site, so the quote is right the first time:
- Liftgate service — required if you do not have a dock or a forklift. The driver cannot hand-unload a pallet.
- Residential or non-commercial delivery
- Limited access locations — schools, military bases, construction sites, self-storage, places of worship, farms
- Inside delivery — past the threshold rather than to the curb or dock
- Delivery appointment or call-ahead
- Redelivery, if nobody is on site to receive the shipment
Standard LTL delivery is curbside or dock-to-dock, during business hours, with the receiver responsible for unloading.
4. Lead times
Lead time varies by manufacturer and product line, and is not the same as transit time.
- Quick Ship items are stocked configurations that ship in a short, defined window from the manufacturer.
- Standard and configured items are built or pulled to order and carry a longer lead time.
- Engineered systems such as mezzanines, in-plant offices, and cleanrooms are scheduled after drawings are approved.
We confirm the lead time for your specific items when we confirm your order. If a lead time changes after you order, we will tell you.
5. Shipment origin and drop shipping
Equipment ships from the manufacturer or from our warehouse, whichever gets it to you sooner. Orders containing items from more than one manufacturer will usually arrive as more than one shipment, on more than one day. You are not charged twice for freight because of how we route it.
6. Title and risk of loss
Unless a written quote states otherwise, shipments are FOB origin. Title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier takes possession. This is why section 6 of our Return and Refund Policy matters: once the goods are on the truck, a damage claim runs against the carrier, and the delivery receipt is the evidence.
7. Receiving a freight delivery
Please have someone available who can inspect the shipment and sign for it. Before the driver leaves:
- Count the pallets and cartons against the delivery receipt.
- Look for crushed cartons, broken skids, cut banding, and forklift punctures.
- Write any damage or shortage on the delivery receipt before signing.
- Photograph anything that looks wrong.
Report damage or shortages to us within 48 hours at 1-800-445-4082 or info@deluxesystems.com.
8. Where we ship
We ship within the continental United States. For Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Canada, or export shipments, contact us for a quote before ordering.
