Below the Hook Lifting Attachments

Spreader beams, clamps, lifters, and tongs that turn a hoist or crane into the right tool for the load.

Below the Hook

Below the Hook Lifting Attachments for Hoists and Cranes

A hoist or crane is only as useful as what hangs from its hook. Plate, coils, reels, dies, pallets, and long awkward loads each need their own attachment to lift level and under control.

This collection covers spreader and lifting beams, vertical and horizontal plate clamps, steel sheet lifters, crane pallet and load lifters, coil hooks and coil lifters, reel lifters, pipe grabs, beam and die tongs, a bulk bag lifter, polyester lifting slings, and a short span lifting plate.

Start With the Load, Then the Hook

Choosing

Start With the Load, Then the Hook

Each attachment is built for a type of load. Spreader beams handle long and uneven loads in low headroom, with adjustable beams from 2,500 to 10,000 lb and economy beams from 1,000 to 6,000 lb. Plate clamps lift a single steel plate, with working load limits up to 8,000 lb on horizontal clamps.

The steel sheet lifter handles stacks up to 10,000 lb, 28 to 72 inches wide. Tell us the load, its weight and dimensions, and your hoist capacity and headroom, and we will match the attachment.

Load Types

Common Below the Hook Jobs

Plate and Sheet

Vertical, positive locking, and horizontal plate clamps lift single plates, and the steel sheet lifter raises stacks of sheet and plate.

Long and Uneven Loads

Adjustable, telescoping, basket, economy, and magnetic spreader beams keep long or uneven loads level in limited headroom.

Coils, Reels, and Pallets

Coil hooks, coil lifters, reel lifters, and crane pallet lifters handle round and palletized loads from an overhead hoist.

Built In

Features That Keep the Lift Controlled

Adjustable Bails

Adjustable spreader beams and the basket lifting beam reposition bails in 4 inch increments to match load size and weight center.

Positive Locking

Positive locking plate clamps grip the plate until the operator pulls the release ring.

Load Leveling

Crane pallet lifters and the coil lifter use adjustable bails so the load hangs level while suspended.

Send us the load, its weight and size, and your hoist capacity.

We will match the below the hook attachment to the lift and quote it.

Plate Clamps for One Plate at a Time

Plate Clamps for One Plate at a Time

Vertical and horizontal plate clamps grip a single clean, oil-free steel plate with surface hardness up to 30 RC.

The positive locking and horizontal clamps are not for stainless steel or aluminum plate.

Spreader Beams for Low Headroom

Spreader Beams for Low Headroom

Spreader beams spread the lift points so long or uneven loads stay level without tall rigging.

Magnetic spreader beams grip ferrous stock directly, in 1,000 and 2,000 lb series from 36 to 144 inches long.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use a fixed economy beam for repeat lifts of a known load. Use an adjustable, telescoping, or basket beam when load width or weight center changes. Send us the load dimensions, weight, and your headroom and we will recommend one.
Vertical clamps lift a plate on edge, and horizontal clamps lift a plate flat. Size by working load limit and plate thickness. These clamps are for clean steel plate up to 30 RC hardness, and several are not for stainless or aluminum.
On the polyester slings, a basket hitch doubles vertical capacity and a choker hitch reduces it by 20 percent. Always confirm capacity for the hitch you use.
Most attachments connect to a standard hoist hook through a bail, ring, or clevis. The attachment's weight counts against your hoist capacity, so send us the hoist rating and we will confirm the fit.
Yes. Crane pallet and load lifters and the HDP pallet lifter convert a hoist or crane into a fork-style lifter for pallets, skids, and crates where a forklift is not practical.
Lead time is quoted per order, based on the attachment and capacity you choose.
